To apply for the Undergraduate Arabic Flagship Program and/or Scholarship, please complete online theUndergraduate Flagship Application and submit supporting materials (transcript, faculty/instructor recommendation, personal statements).
The Graduate Flagship Program is a collaboration of 4 institutions:
•The Language Flagship: provides funding.
•The University of Maryland: Flagship Fellows complete the domestic program at UMCP.
•The American Councils for International Education: Flagship Fellows then go on to spend a second year overseas in Damascus, Syria.
•The Institute for International Education: administers the funding for both components of the Flagship program. Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to students who agree to complete both domestic and overseas study.
Students may apply to the University of Maryland MPS program whether or not they seek fellowship funding. However, admission to the MPS program at Maryland is required for graduate fellowship funding.
Application Processes:
Apply to the University of Maryland Arabic Masters of Professional Studies Program.
The MPS program admits students of various disciplines who have strong motivation to achieve higher levels of competence in Arabic. Applicants need to demonstrate an ACTFL proficiency level of Intermediate-High (1+) or Advanced-Low (ILR 2-) in speaking, reading, and/or listening.

Applicants MUST be provisionally admitted to the overseas portion of the program as part of their admission to the Graduate Flagship program. Full admission is granted on successful completion of the domestic portion of the program.
