For exceptional students Flagship Scholarship funding provides tuition for courses taken in Arabic over the course of the academic year. Scholars need to file the FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) in order to be eligible for the scholarship. These disbursements will be made directly to your student account to offset your tuition costs.

The Language Flagship Program offers competitive scholarships to fund summer and/or full year study abroad in Alexandria, Egypt.
UM bases award of overseas study scholarships on language proficiency examination results and academic performance evaluation by UM Arabic faculty.
Applicants to undergraduate Flagship programs may also apply for David L. Boren Scholarships, SMART grants, the Academic Competitive Grants Program, and others.
Full Fellowships are available for study at UM and for the additional year that Fellows spend in Damascus, Syria.
The overseas portion of the program is managed by the American Councils for International Education.
Applicants to graduate Flagship programs may apply for Flagship Fellowships and David L. Boren Fellowships. Students may also be eligible for fellowships under the Fulbright-Hays Act, the Title VI Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Program Fellowships, and Title VIII Fellowships.
The University of Maryland also offers a limited number of merit-based partial stipends for a maximum of $10,000.
