The programs in Second Language Acquisition (Ph.D.) and Second Language Acquisition & Application (M.A.) are housed within the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures (SLLC). The M.A. program offers concentrations in French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish. This program is designed for researchers, language teachers, government service professionals, and all those interested in the acquisition and application of languages other than English. The Ph.D. program has a strong cognitive science and research focus for students working in languages other than English, and draws upon the expertise of a distinguished cadre of faculty in the
School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, and in affiliate departments such as
Linguistics;
Measurement, Statistics, and Evaluation;
Hearing and Speech;
Philosophy;
Psychology;
Sociology; and
Curriculum and Instruction.
