French Alum participates in Bastille Day Parade
2002 marked the Bicentennial of the French Legion of Honor, the United States Military Academy at West Point, and the French Military Academy of St. Cyr. To celebrate this historic occasion and to reiterate France's historic ties to the United States following the events of 9/11, the President of France invited West Point — one of only three foreign schools awarded the Legion of Honor — to lead the 2002 Bastille Day Parade in Paris.
Major Brian Poe (M.A., 2000) helped lead 168 West Point Cadets to France for their march down the Champs Elysees and was interviewed on France 2 television just prior to the start of the parade. The West Point Cadets later participated in St. Cyr's Bicentennial graduation ceremony in Brittany. More details can be found at http://www.usma.edu/Bicentennial/StCyrGrad.asp.
