Persian Flagship - Graduate
The University of Maryland offers both a Graduate Certificate of Professional Studies and a Master of Professional Studies in Persian. These programs lead to superior proficiency in Persian, and are of particular interest to those whose career goals include expertise in international and/or governmental arenas.
The programs employ an innovative, task-based curriculum. In addition to language study, students work in Persian on topics ranging from modern Iranian culture and politics to comparative international relations and translation. The program benefits from substantial support from The Language Flagship and offers some funding for qualified applicants. Students who receive funding will benefit from an additional year of study at Tajik State National University in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
