SLLC-RHSmith Global Opportunities program: Applications due 2/29!

Global Opportunities is a selective and reciprocal academic program for language and business students interested in the world of international business. The program helps students to gain skills outside their majors and enhance their opportunities in the global business arena. Language majors complete 15 credits in business, while business majors complete 15 credits in a single foreign language, 9 credits of which just be at the 300-400 level. Registration is expedited for students in the program, who also participate in study abroad trips, international clubs and co-curricular activities. Sophomore language majors can apply to take five course in business; business majors apply to take five courses in a language. Applications are available online!

Minors

Minors (formerly Citations) in the College of Arts and Humanities offer students in all disciplines the opportunity to pursue an in-depth, structured program of study in a field outside of their major. Minors allow participants to earn official recognition of their expertise and achievements, broadening their skills and interests and giving them an edge in today's competitive job markets. **MINORS should be declared at least one year before graduation**


Certificates

Certificates in the College of Arts and Humanities offer students in all disciplines the opportunity to pursue an in-depth, structured program of study in a field outside of their major. Certificates allow participants to earn official recognition of their expertise and achievements, broadening their skills and interests and giving them an edge in today's competitive job markets. Each student who successfully completes a certificate program will receive a certificate at graduation, and the accomplishment will be noted on the student's transcript.

To be eligible for a Certificate, students must receive a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland College Park. Successful completion of a Certificate requires grades of C or above. Each program welcomes students in good standing from any academic major discipline.


Honor Pledge

The School of Languages, Literatures and cultures has a strict, zero-tolerance policy with respect to academic dishonesty. Students are expected to abide by the University of Maryland's Code of Academic Integrity on all quizzes, homework assignments, papers and examinations. Academic dishonesty is a serious offense and all suspected cases will be referred to the Office of Judicial Programs and Student Ethical Development.
